Drug Uses
Cozaar is used for treatment of high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in certain patients with high blood pressure and for treating kidney disease in certain patients with type 2 diabetes.

How Taken
Take Cozaar as directed by your doctor. Take Cozaar with or without a meal. Take this medicine on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it. Continue to take Cozaar even if you feel well.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Cozaar, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Cozaar, if you have kidney problems, liver problems, congestive heart failure, blood electrolyte problems (e.g., low sodium levels or high potassium levels), or low fluid volume (e.g., dehydration), if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. Do not take Cozaar after the third month of pregnancy. It may cause injury or death to the fetus. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor right away. It is unknown if Cozaar is found in breast milk. Do not breast–feed while taking Cozaar. Some medicines may interact with Cozaar. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Consult with your doctor before you use a salt substitute or a product that has potassium in it. Cozaar has not been shown to reduce the risk of stroke or certain heart problems in black patients who have high blood pressure. Cozaar may affect your blood sugar. If you are diabetes patient check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine. Lab tests, including liver function, kidney function, and blood pressure, may be performed while you use Cozaar. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. Cozaar should not be used in children younger than 6 years old, safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed. Do not use Cozaar in children who have severely decreased kidney function.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- Diarrhea, dizziness, tiredness, weakness. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), chest pain, dark urine, decreased amount of urine, hoarseness, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain or tenderness, stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Storage
Store Cozaar at 77 °F (25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Cozaar out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Cozaar overdose are- fainting, rapid or unusually slow heartbeat, severe dizziness.

More Information
Cozaar may cause dizziness. These effects may worsen if Cozaar is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Cozaar with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Cozaar should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
